09 January : Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (In English : Non-resident Indian Day), is celebrated in India on 9 January each year to mark the contribution of the overseas Indian community to the development of India. The day commemorates the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa in Bombay on 9 January 1915.

10  January : World Laughter Day takes place on the first Sunday of May of every year . The first celebration was on January 10, 1998, in Mumbai, India, and was arranged by 

Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement.
